In its article “Does Germany Need Apprentices from Abroad?”, VerkehrsRundschau presents the Why not logistics project as a successful example of how the logistics industry can address the skilled labor shortage. The project demonstrates how international recruitment can work in practice – from selecting suitable candidates to ensuring successful training careers in Germany. The focus is on language training, cultural preparation, and close support for the trainees. Why not logistics makes it clear that apprenticeships from abroad are not a stopgap solution, but a sustainable approach to securing the future of the industry.
Christiane Bauer Wins the LEO Award

Christiane Bauer, initiator of Why not logistics, has been honored with the LEO Award 2025 in the “Manager” category. With this award, DVZ recognizes her commitment to tackling the skilled labor shortage and her innovative approach to international recruitment. Through the project, she enables young people from West Africa to pursue vocational training in Germany, supported by language training, structured onboarding, and close personal guidance. To date, more than 60 trainees have already begun their careers.
Markets International

The renowned business magazine Markets International reports in its 6/23 issue on innovative strategies used by German companies to attract skilled workers – featuring our project “Why not logistics.” Under the title “From the Congo to Cologne,” the story of our first trainee truck drivers from the Democratic Republic of the Congo is told – and how we are taking new approaches to international recruitment through our platform.

DVZ reports in its article “Language Is the Key to Success” on the Why not logistics project. The focus is on trainees from Africa who come to Germany via Emons Digital to start their careers as professional drivers and logistics specialists. The key to success lies in language training, cultural onboarding, and close support – turning international recruitment into sustainable integration. With a growing number of training programs already underway, the model continues to expand and demonstrates new ways to tackle the skilled labor shortage.
TV feature

The ARD morning show (ARD-Morgenmagazin) featured a report on our remarkable trainee Maimouna. In 2024, with the support of Why not Logistics, Maimouna took the courageous step of coming to Germany to begin her training as a professional truck driver.
