The shortage of skilled workers in Germany is often associated primarily with challenges: a lack of qualified staff, complex procedures, language barriers and the question of how successful integration can be achieved.

These challenges are real. At the same time, there are projects demonstrating that international recruitment can work successfully.

Why not Logistics is one of them.

Turning international cooperation into real opportunities

With Why not Logistics, we aim to give young people from other countries the opportunity to build a professional future in Germany while also contributing to securing the skilled workforce of tomorrow.

For us, this is about much more than simply filling apprenticeship vacancies. We support young people on their journey to Germany, prepare them for their apprenticeship and help them settle into a new country.

In this way, international connections become real career opportunities.

Many of the young people we have met and supported through our project have now arrived in Germany and started their apprenticeships in the logistics sector.

Successful integration needs strong structures

Sustainable integration does not happen by itself.

It requires committed companies, high-quality training, personal support and reliable structures. At the same time, it depends on cooperation between businesses, policymakers, public authorities and society.

That is why it is so important to make successful examples visible and share experiences with others.

Best practice can encourage other companies to explore new approaches to recruiting skilled workers internationally.

An exchange with Minister of State Serap Güler

A particularly valuable opportunity for this exchange came with the visit of Minister of State Serap Güler to Emons’ headquarters in Cologne Dellbrück.

During her visit, she learned more about Emons and Why not Logistics, met some of our apprentices and spoke with us about international recruitment, vocational training and the opportunities created through international cooperation.

For a more detailed insight into her visit and the discussions in Cologne, you can also read the Emons News article on Serap Güler’s summer tour.

There was already a special connection between Minister of State Güler and our project before her visit.

During an official trip to Abidjan, she had the opportunity to learn more about Why not Logistics and met some of our future apprentices at the Goethe-Institut.

Today, these young people have arrived in Germany and started their apprenticeships.

For us, their journey is a powerful example of what international cooperation can achieve.

Talking more about opportunities

We do not want to focus solely on the challenges of securing skilled workers.

We also want to highlight what is already working.

Why not Logistics represents a positive approach to international recruitment and integration. It stands for cooperation, long-term prospects and the courage to explore new paths.

Because securing skilled workers does not always have to be a story about shortages.

It can also be a story about opportunities, cooperation and successful integration.
